The Trust Project What is this? GRAND FORKS — An event on Friday, Nov. 13, in Bismarck will honor victims of fatal North Dakota traffic crashes. It’s being held by the North Dakota Department of Transportation Highway Safety Division and Vision Zero, a state initiative designed to reduce crash-related deaths. It will be held in Memorial Hall at the State Capitol in Bismarck, and is in conjunction with World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. ADVERTISEMENT According to a release from the DOT, attendees are invited to arrive beginning at 11:30 a.m. to view memorial displays and gather with families and others before the program begins at noon. “This year’s program will place a special emphasis on remembering who traffic victims were and the lives they lived,” the release noted. The program will include remarks from a victim’s family and representatives from the state DOT, followed by an invocation and moment of silence for crash victims. Families and friends are invited to bring a photo, pair of shoes or another meaningful item representing their loved one to place in a temporary memorial during the ceremony. Flowers will be provided by Concrete Daisiez. Also, families may complete a memory card to share a memory or something meaningful about the person they are remembering. Families may take their cards home or entrust them to Vision Zero to be displayed at future World Day of Remembrance events, allowing their loved ones to continue to be represented even when family members are unable to attend. World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is observed internationally on the third Sunday of November. Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
